01:37 pm: Swiss Centre construction x 2
There were big red things (trusses?) that are visible in the previous photograph. These are being taken away today. I assume they were holding the outside of the site up.

I challenge you to call the phone number on the side of them and see how much they cost to buy/rent/have delivered :-)

Double-dare back at you!

The number, in case it is not clear is 01296 663 250. It apparently belongs to Will Starkey of MGF ltd, near Tring.

Hydraulic waling beams.

I'd better explain that: 'shoring' is propping something from the ground to prevent it falling in or over; 'waling' is propping two opposing vertical faces off of each other, and is almost exclusively used to support the temporary facings of deep excavations. So your guess is correct, and the permanent structures of the retaining walls for the basement are now in place.

From the dates of your photos, the concrete has developed strength very quickly: less than ten days, it seems.
