Argh! That's exactly what happened to me on Saturday.
Specsavers will try to fleece you. I had to pay £5 for the privilage of them fitting another leg that doesn't match! I think she quoted me £15 for a "proper" repair.

I shall beware! Luckily I had a spare set made at the same time as these - yay for two for one offers (but with a frame I decided I don't like). But erk. I was trying to straighten out the leg thing after having bent it, too. :(

Doesn't James work in vision express? Maybe he could help.

Did the hinge material broke or just the holding screw? I used to fix the latter myself.

The leg snapped very close to the screw bit. Bit of the leg left attached to the screw - couple of mm or so.

I see. That would require soldering - with a risk that the leg would be permanently stuck to certain position.

sometimes the little local shops work out cheaper?
- after going to specsavers for years i decided to go to the one just up from me on welford road, out of laziness, and not only did they not charge me at all to put in a screw (I'd lost one) they charged me £20 for a really thorough eye test and said that although my astigmatism had moved round my vision was still legal so not to bother with new glasses.
